Bad Luck

Damn, I’ve really won the lottery here. Reborn as this. How could it happen to me? Sixteen legs, and I can barely coordinate them. What’s the point? And don’t even get me started on the ab workout it takes just to drag this miserable body from place to place. The trail of slime I leave behind—yeah, that’s real charming. Can’t even figure out if it’s a bug or a feature. Sure, I can trace my steps easily, but who wants to follow a path of bodily fluids?

And my face. It's a real masterpiece. Every creature I encounter looks at me like I crawled out of a nightmare. You know that phrase, “a face only a mother could love?” Well, I wouldn’t know—never met her. Just got dumped somewhere as an egg. Had a whole bunch of siblings, though. Not that it helped. They tried to eat me the second I hatched. Can’t even blame them. Life’s rough when youhave to eat whatever nasty thing you find.

And it all started with that damned mushroom. I know what you’re thinking: mushrooms aren’t supposed to ruin your life, right? I used to love them. But then you see this huge mushroom, growing really fast, taller than the trees, just growing out of nowhere. One minute I’m staring at it, the next—poof—everything goes white. Then black. When I woke up, boom, I’m this mutated caterpillar, stranded in a world of rocks, sand, and scorched nothingness. Oh, and my body glows in the dark. I’m like a beacon for anything that wants to devour me.

So, here I am, trying not to get eaten. I could just let something take me out, see what form I get next. Maybe I’ll luck out. But the truth is—I’m scared. Everything’s changed since that mushroom. The whole world seems cursed, twisted beyond recognition. And I keep thinking, what if my next form is even worse? What if there’s something out there even more pitiful than this? So, I keep dragging myself through this sad excuse for a life, trying to survive. But really, what am I hoping for?
